Jay is a USPTA certified Tennis Professional with over 28 years of teaching experience. He was the Head Tennis Professional at Sunset Ridge Racket & Swim Club in Holly Springs for 9 years. Jay played college tennis at N.C. State University and joined our club in 2004 as the Director of Tennis. Jay teaches private lessons, team practices, group drills and clinics to adults and juniors and oversees all tennis operations at the club.

John French - Head Tennis Professional
USTA CERTIFIED - Safe Play Coach
John has been at the University Club since 2012, and previously from 1997-2003. John teaches private lessons, team practices, and group drills for adults and juniors. John coaches all USTA Junior Teams at the University Club.
John has had the privilege of working with Tennis Hall of Famers Don Budge, Harry Hopman, and Ken Rosewall.
John played Division 1 Tennis at the University of Idaho.

Joanna Nalborska - Pro shop Manager
Joanna is a graduate of N.C. State, in Sports Management with a minor in Coaching Education. Joanna played for the NC State tennis team, and when living in Poland was ranked #9 in the Poland Women’s Open Division.
Joanna joined the Tennis staff in spring of 2017 and taught group lessons and private lessons. Joanna also handles the online registrations for all golf and tennis camps. Joanna accepted a new position as the Pro Shop manager on September 1, 2023. You can reach Joanna by

Meredith Muempfer - Tennis Professional
Meredith will begin teaching in September 2023 as a part time Tennis Pro. Meredith played college tennis at Ohio State University and was named to Academic All-Big Ten Team and was a two-time OSU Scholar Athlete. Meredith was also the Head Tennis Coach at Meredith College for 10 years. In addition to her coaching, she was an assistant camp director and worked at the Nike Tennis Camp. Her experience working at various clubs also includes coaching, teaching, running tournaments and managing tennis instructors. We look forward to having Meredith at the UClub!!

Robert Valdillez - Pickleball Professional
Robert Valdillez is our new Pickle Ball pro. Robert has worked with growing pickleball on N.C. State’s campus and has been instrumental in starting one of the largest pickle ball clubs in the US. Robert is a volunteer USA Pickleball ambassador. Ambassadors are hired to grow pickleball in their communities. Robert oversees two large tournaments per year as a fundraiser for the pickleball club. The tournaments drew over 250 players. Robert will be joining the uclub team once the pickleball courts are completed. Robert will be teaching private lessons, group lessons and organizing pickleball play. We are excited to have Robert on board!
